A category B license permits you to drive big trucks that do not carry passengers. It also grants you the right to tow small trailers.
There are a variety of additional endorsements you can obtain, which open up more career opportunities and allow you to drive vehicles that are specialized. These endorsements will require additional tests.
What is a B+ category?
Category B is a driver's license that permits you to drive passenger vehicles that have up to 3,500 kilograms of maximum permitted mass, including trailers. This license could provide you with more job opportunities and freedom than a standard driver's license. There are a number of additional endorsements that you can get with your Class B licence depending on your particular needs. You can also obtain HAZMAT (which requires a specific training), tanker (which allows you to drive vehicles that contain liquid or gas) as well as triple-trailers that allow you to pull multiple trailers at once.
Class B is the smallest CDLs. It's required for any vehicle that weighs more than 26,001 pounds or tows vehicles less than 10,000. This includes small HAZMAT vehicles as well with passenger vans and delivery trucks. To be eligible for a Class B license, you must have an active noncommercial driver's license and pass the Department of Transportation medical examination. State-specific age requirements will apply. The majority of states require drivers to be 18 years old, but you must be 21 to cross state lines or transport dangerous materials.
How do I apply for a category B+?
You must pass the Department of Transportation Physical Exam and have a clean driving record to be eligible for CDL Class B. You must also meet the state's age requirements. Some countries allow a person with a category B full license to also drive vehicles that are restricted to the category B1 and vice versa. In addition to these categories, you may need to get an additional endorsement to drive certain types of commercial vehicles. For instance, if want to work as a delivery driver for companies such as UPS or Amazon, you will need a Class B CDL. This will allow you to drive passenger vans and small HAZMAT vehicles.

Where can I find the B+ category?

You can either complete the driver's training in a practical manner at a recognized driving school, or you can enroll in a private driving class and pass the state test. Both options are expensive however, you might have no other choice if you wish to drive vehicles that weigh up to 3.5 tons.
A category B license entitles you to drive a car with a maximum allowed mass of up to 3.5 tons and a trailer, the total weight of which is not greater than the weight of the towing vehicle. It also allows you to drive a three-wheeled vehicle, provided that its maximum authorised mass is not more than 775 kg. A trailer must also be equipped with an overrun brake.
You can determine if you have this entitlement by checking your driving licence information online. A medical certificate is required to obtain a B+ category licence. The certificate must be renewed each time you renew your licence. If you are over 60 and hold an category B+ license, you will also need undergo a medical exam every five years.
If you have an a Category B+ license obtained before the 19th January 2013, you may continue to drive mopeds and tricycles. If you have an category B full licence that included entitlement to ride tricycles remains, as do all entitlements on category B full licences for agricultural tractors and other three-wheeled motor vehicles.
In some EU Member States, drivers who hold a category B driving license are eligible to upgrade their licences after passing higher categories of driving and/or towing tests. This is called "upgrading" your lower category licences, and the higher categories are usually displayed on a colour-coded section of the driving licence. In the majority of instances passing the driving test will upgrade your licence to includes the lower categories. However, you should always examine your driving license to ensure that you have the right categories listed on it.
